At Aslan Guild, we take every idea or invention submission very seriously, and so we have provided this brief standard below to help ensure that your idea or invention is given the most careful consideration and that you and your idea or invention are protected.
What we are looking for:
For initial disclosure, it is very important that you provide us with a simple generic description of your product concept or idea. Begin your disclosure with a product category description, then give us a brief overview of the product or concept. If your product or concept is out of the ordinary, you may also want to provide your thoughts on applicable market(s). As an example, let’s assume you have designed and/or developed a passenger seat for an automobile featuring “first of kind” technology that eliminates the need for seatbelts. Your initial disclosure should look something like the following:
Product category: Automotive
Product description: A passenger seat for an automobile featuring “first of kind” technology that eliminates the need for seatbelts.
Since your product is in the automotive category, a market description will not be necessary. Upon receiving your initial disclosure, we submit it for consideration among our senior executive team. It is our goal to assist you to the best of our abilities. If we believe your product is a concept that fits within our predominant skill sets, we will proceed to the next level of disclosure (two), which will necessitate a full disclosure behind the protection of an executed Mutual Non-disclosure Agreement. In the event we feel we can not actively pursue your concept, we will provide you with a written review of our reasons, as well as recommendations for you to proceed on your own. These recommendations will include a comprehensive system to assure your intellectual property is protected from a volatile market environment.
Why are we looking for a generic initial disclosure?
One of our primary missions is to vigorously protect the inventor and the inventors’ rights. This obviously means you! Additionally, considering the majority of our senior executive team are inventors, and we have a significant volume of “internal” unique product concepts, as well as ongoing external projects, we also need to protect ourselves. If your product or concept happens to coincide with, or is very similar to one of our ongoing projects or products, we may be forced to opt out of offering you our services. In this scenario, a generic description of your product will not reveal any vital information, and thus eliminate potential conflict for both parties. However, even if your concept does coincide with one of ours, there remains a possibility that both ideas could be merged in to one, thereby creating a stronger and more robust product design. Of course the possibilities within this context are far too numerable to elaborate. So, please feel free to submit your information, and hopefully we can continue on an exciting and rewarding journey together!
Expectations and Timelines:
If you are invited to proceed to level two disclosures, we will review and disseminate the information in your full disclosure, and complete a full review on our recommendations to proceed. At that time, we will also submit an advisory regarding our expectations of you, what you can expect from us, and a timeline relevant to the time we believe will be required to complete whatever services we offer to provide.
